Other Purposes of Baking Soda

Although baking soda was developed and is still largely used for cooking, this common household product has variety of other purposes, that very few people know about. Recently, the cleaning applications of baking soda become more and more evident to the general public, because baking soda is a cheap product that has great cleaning powers and it is still an environmentally friendly product.

But baking soda can be for other things as well. If you are familiar and practising green cleaning than you are well aware that baking soda can remove carpet stains, or unpleasant odours and even clean the grime, burns and grease from the oven. Yet, Camden cleaners claim that baking soda can be used as a toothpaste, deodorant and for bathing.

Baking soda can be used instead of a toothpaste because it is less abrasive than commercial toothpastes , but still makes your teeth clean and fresh. And being all natural it does not contain fluoride which some people tend to avoid. Add 1/2 cup baking soda to your bath to make your skin soft, clean and smooth.

You can use baking soda paste and rub it on more to smooth away rough skin on elbows, knees and feet.
Carpet cleaning Camden experts claim that a lot of people know that you can absorb fresh red wine stain from the carpet by sprinkling generous amount of baking soda over the stain while it is still fresh, but did you know that you can also extinguish fires with baking soda. Baking soda releases carbon dioxide when it comes in touch with fire which sucks the oxygen that the fire needs sustain itself.

Baking soda can also repel insects and pests from your home. It is especially effective against cockroaches and ants. Sprinkle some baking soda around the house under the sink, doorways, drain and so on to keep the insects away from the house.
